The Route Map of My 20-Year Sales Journey

Every journey has a beginning. Some journeys start with a dream. Others begin with a necessity.
Mine began with a willingness to work—no matter how difficult the job was.

The first time I heard the phrase "Route Map" was during the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, it referred to tracing the movement of infected individuals to understand where they had been and whom they had met.

Years later, the phrase took on an entirely different meaning for me.
I realized that every human being has a unique route map—a journey filled with decisions, failures, opportunities, victories, and lessons that shape who they become.

This article is my route map.

It is not merely the story of my career.
It is the story of perseverance.
It is the story of starting over.
It is the story behind the person you know today as Saneesh Povil Kelappan, a Sales Professional, Entrepreneur, and Digital Marketing Strategist.

Hard Work Was My First Teacher

Long before I entered the corporate world, I had already learned one of life's greatest lessons:
There is dignity in every honest job.
As a student, I worked in multiple fields, including: Construction work, Well digging, Painting, Newspaper distribution, Hotel cashier.

Every job developed a different skill.

Construction taught discipline. Painting taught patience. Newspaper delivery taught punctuality. Working as a cashier taught responsibility. Without realizing it, these experiences were preparing me for a career in sales.

My First Professional Sales Career

In 2006, I joined Force Motors, Thrissur, as a Sales Executive.
That was the turning point.
I discovered that sales is not about convincing people. Sales is about understanding people. It is about identifying problems and offering solutions.
This realization became the foundation of my career.

Dubai: My First International Challenge

In 2007, like millions of expatriates, I arrived in Dubai carrying nothing but dreams and determination.
I joined a Ready mix Concrete company in Jebel Ali.
Life was exciting. Everything was new. But life also had its own plans.
After eleven months, workplace politics resulted in losing my job. At that moment, I believed I had failed. Today, I understand something different.
Failure is often life's most powerful classroom.

Back to India... Back to Sales

Returning home was emotionally difficult. But giving up was never an option. I continued working across different industries.
HDFC Bank
Working in banking taught me professional communication and financial discipline.
Water Doctor
Here I learned solution selling rather than product selling.
Rejoice Search Engine Developers
This role introduced me to technology businesses and online opportunities. Looking back, this experience unknowingly became my first connection with the digital world.
Sam Farm Trading
Selling agricultural products helped me understand B2B sales and relationship building.

My Second UAE Journey

In 2011, I returned to the UAE. This time I was stronger. More experienced. More confident. I joined Double Star General Trading LLC, Dubai. For seven years I worked in Sales and Administration.

These years taught me:
Customer Relationship Management
Business Operations
Documentation
Sales Coordination
Team Communication
International Business Practices.

This period transformed me from a salesperson into a business professional.

Silver Rock: Another Learning Experience.

Every company teaches something different. Silver Rock expanded my understanding of customer expectations and adaptability. Sometimes the value of a job is not measured by years. It is measured by the lessons it leaves behind.

Becoming an Entrepreneur

Every salesperson dreams of building something of their own. In 2019, that dream became reality. I founded 'Carry Me' Eco Friendly Paper Bags. The business represented much more than a company. It represented years of learning, sacrifice, and hope. The response exceeded my expectations. Customers trusted the brand. The business grew. Recognition followed.

A Moment of Pride

One of the greatest milestones of my career arrived when the enterprise received recognition under the Prime Minister YUVA Yojana during 2020–2021.
State Level – Second Position
District Level – First Position
Awards are never the destination.
They simply remind us that consistent effort eventually gets noticed.

COVID Changed Everything

No entrepreneur expected what happened next.
COVID-19 disrupted the world.
Supply chains stopped.
Businesses struggled.
Markets collapsed.
Like millions of entrepreneurs, my business also suffered. Despite trying every possible solution, continuing the business became financially impossible. Sometimes survival itself becomes success.

Beginning Again

Returning to expatriate life was emotionally painful. I had once believed I would never leave my business. Life proved otherwise. Looking back today, I don't see that decision as defeat. I see it as courage.
Sometimes beginning again is the bravest decision anyone can make.

My Current Journey

Today, I work with DOTS Printing & Packaging LLC in the UAE.
Ironically, I now work in the same industry that inspired my entrepreneurial dream.

Every day I continue learning about:
Luxury Packaging
Branding
Customer Behavior
Business Development
B2B Sales
International Markets

At the same time, another passion entered my life.
Digital Marketing.

Why I Chose Digital Marketing

The future of business belongs to companies that combine traditional sales with digital strategies.
Sales brings relationships.
Digital Marketing brings visibility.
Branding creates trust.
SEO generates opportunities.
Content builds authority.
Together, they create sustainable business growth.

That realization motivated me to start Saneesh.in, where I share my experience, knowledge, and practical insights with entrepreneurs, business owners, sales professionals, and aspiring marketers.

The Biggest Lessons from Twenty Years in Sales

After two decades, these are the lessons I value the most:
Trust sells more than products.
Relationships create repeat business.
Listening is more powerful than talking.
Rejection is part of growth.
Failure is temporary.
Learning should never stop.
Technology changes, but human psychology remains the same.
Every customer teaches something.
Personal branding matters.
Integrity is your greatest sales tool.

Why Personal Branding Matters Today

In today's digital world, people don't simply buy products.
They buy trust.
Your personal brand is your reputation before you even speak.
That is why I continue building my digital presence through Saneesh.in, sharing insights on sales, entrepreneurship, digital marketing, branding, SEO, business strategy, and professional growth.

Looking Ahead

My journey is still continuing.
Every day presents another opportunity to learn.
Every customer is another teacher.
Every challenge is another lesson.
Every failure is another route map leading toward success.
I don't believe I have reached my destination.
I believe I am still walking.
And that is the beauty of the journey.

Final Thoughts

If my story teaches one lesson, let it be this:
Success is not defined by how many times you win.
It is defined by how many times you decide to begin again.
My journey continues.
So does yours.
Walk your own route map with courage.
The destination will take care of itself.
